I guess the economy has hit hard and made Phillips rethink there sales strategy. Shocked as I was before I was going to write a happy review has now changed to a hate review. Philips... once was good when happy hour was at $.50 an oyster.. but now at $1 an oyster your better off going to Clydes at night time and do there happy hour and actually get to pick the different types of oysters you get. Besides from the raised price, the service was pathetic. The number one thing that turns me off the most about restaurants are the snobby judging waiters. They take a look at you and give you crappy service cause you look young or what ever, and provide you with low and slow service, while another table gets better service. I hate this, having been a waiter for over 5 years, I gave everyone the benefit of the doubt.
Moving on before I pop a vein, the other happy hour items weren't that fantastic either.
The crab cake burger looked like it was packaged, frozen, reheated and served with a tooth pick and a container of tarter sauce. Would I buy it again? HELL TO THE NO. I know why they gave you the tarter sauce with the burger. Cause that burger was dry as hell. For a "top quality seafood" restaurant as Phillips you would at least hope they made everything fresh, but I guess the chef got lazy and decided to go to the local grocery store and buy the frozen Philips meal.
Next on the menu that we tried was the sushi Tuna deep fried.. Guess how that turned out? Again, for a seafood restaurant you would think that produce would be fresh.. however I guess they are only good when its fully cooked and the fishy flavor of week old fish is covered. The raw tuna in the middle was fishy and not tasteful, the rice that they made along side of it was clearly old and frozen before... it was hard and unpleasant.
I would not recommend their happy hour anymore. It was fun before for $0.50 cent oysters but I guess its gone downhill since than.. and those that call me cheap.. for that $0.50, think of the gas prices, you wouldn't like it when it jumps $0.50 cents do you!
