Does George Town Cupcake have anything to worry about? Not too much.. As like any bandwagon store such as Frozen Yogurt shop, Lilly Magilly's is another cupcake spot that is much close to home. Store setup and products are almost exactly the same in presentation but I guess the taste cannot be copied. Gourmet cupcakes are showing up everywhere, but are they really gourmet?
For a dozen of your choice the total comes out to be $30. What makes this "Gourmet" is the selections of frosting that they have for the cupcakes. The frosting was very sweet and moist, the cupcake was not. When first peeling back the wrapper I was confused at the texture to find that it felt stiff and hard like a muffin. However moving closer to the center the cup cake started to feel more soft, that or the frosting was helping it go down easier. Although there was a generous amount of frosting on top, I felt it was too much and made it hard to start eating the cupcake without spilling everywhere and or getting frosting all over your face.
The service was nice and they kept things clean and we did have a nice time relaxing inside the store while it was pouring outside. Unlike Georgetown cupcake, there was no line and even with 3 tables to sit it (not including the 2 outside) it was enough as few people stayed in the store to relax. I would return, however it was nothing super special or anything that would hit the spot when it comes to cravings.
